SOME WORDS ABOUT ME
My name is Thanos Christodoulou and I was born in Athens in 1987. During my high school years I had the chance to represent Greece in the 36th and 37th International Chemistry Olympiads, both times earning a Bronze Medal. Afterwards, I studied medicine in the University of Athens and since May 2013, I have been undertaking my residency training in Psychiatry at the Lucus Augusti University Hospital of Lugo in Spain. Moreover, I have been honoured with memberships at both the College of Physicians of Lugo and the Athens Medical Association.
My initiation in the marvellous world of Psychiatry as a medical student was only the first step of what later became a passion and, luckily, is currently my job. A job so rewarding that never made me wonder if I took the right decision walking down that road after finishing medical school. It is not only the complexity of human mind which is reflected in the diversity of human behavior, but also the high level of involvement with psychiatric patients, that make the work fascinating, challenging and especially gratifying.
The vision I share about the future is that of a society that ensures human dignity and equal treatment to each and every patient, where the stigma attached to mental disorders will not exist anymore. That is a future we need to fight for!
